we had a busy, fun, emotional, quick final week in boston. i have to say that after four years of waiting to be done with dental school and living in boston, i am really missing beantown. it still feels like we are just on vacation and we'll be going back in a week. and calvin really misses his friends! BUT, we are done with school and on to our new post-school lives! and i have to say, i'm really excited! we moved to oregon during the beautiful season and we have so much family close by to hang out with all the time. see what i mean about emotional?
so, last week was full, full, full so get ready...we spent the beginning of the week stuck inside getting everything packed and the apartment clean so that we could have as much done before graduation as possible. wednesday night was my last basketball night with the girls from the ward who i've played with every wednesday night for 1 1/2 years. (minus the month before and 2 months after miles was born) i love these girls and always looked forward to our wednesday nights together...even if sometimes we crocheted instead of playing or chatted for an hour after playing. i will definitely miss my wednesday nights!
and, in true fashion, we opted to eat instead of play on our last wednesday night together!

and these girls have been all over my blog for the last few years. we had one final girls night with just the four of us. this is how i survived dental school. i love these 3 girls and i know that we will keep in touch forever. and i know kristen will hate this pic but she is 8 months pregnant! you look great kristen. {kristen, liz, jennie, jamie}

we kind of got into giving each other candy bar cards for different occasions so they made this one for me. click on it to read it better.

by thursday we had the truck loaded up with just the cleaning left to do and our parents' to arrive for graduation. we loved having both sets of parents around for the weekend. calvin got lots of special time with grandma and grandpa/nana and papa. friday morning we took our last walk to our beach and the park. here is calvin enjoying some special grandpa/papa time.
with my dad

with trav's dad.

dental school graduation:
on to the big event! travis graduated from dental school. there's so much i could say about travis and how hard he worked, etc. but overall i am so, so proud of him. we did it! (yes, we.)
trav's supporters at graduation. we thought calvin would have more fun playing with friends instead of going to graduation.

it's official! dr. travis evans.

trav's dad, "ok. you can work with me now."

saturday morning we finished cleaning our place and saying some final good-byes and then drove away from quincy for the last time to travis' awards ceremony. we were all so proud when travis received a couple great awards. then, my parents and trav and rick dropped kari, me and the boys off at the airport for the last 6 hour flight home.
we are all now here in oregon living with travis' family for a little while until we find a place to live. after one new battery, one new carburetor, little sleep, and a quick 3 1/2 days, travis and his dad made it home last night. we're glad to be here all together now and to begin our new life! to all our boston friends: we miss you! thanks for a great, yet hard, four years! we will always have special memories of our time there!

WAHOOOO WAY TO GO TRAV!!!!!
Your husband is a stud.
You are hot.
Miles has HUGE cheeks and I want to squeeze them.
I miss Ralph and Theresa.
Oh. and I wish i had been your friend the past 4 years. In the physical sense.
See I told you you'd miss it.
And that is one. huge. diploma.
That was a hard last week for me and I only read about it!
And I concur. That is a huge diploma.
Oh dear, you're making me cry :( We're just here in Canada pretending you're not gone! So happy for you, miss you already! And Rory has asked when Calvin will be coming to Baachan's and Jiichan's every stinking day, and I'm calling you the minute we're back state-side :)
Congrats Travis! I am excited to see updates of your new life in Oregon! So different!
1. what the heck is bostoniensis?
2. yep i look fat
3. i love that travis' dad is wearing sweat pants...hehe
you KNOW we miss you. oh and i just wanted to say... don't feel too bad about the car stuff. we just spent over $800 after that flat tire. no more target for me for awhile! ;)
When we moved here my car went ca-put less than 1 week before we drove out here, so we had to buy a new one! So we are sorry for the car trouble and very glad he made it virtually safe and sound! Can't wait to hear about your new adventures!
Gotta love the GIGANTIC diploma that BU gives out--and especially the Latin. And no-we have learned that this is not the standard for every dental school-just another unique thing about BU. :-) Sam had a lot of fun carrying it on the plane since it wouldn't fit in any suitcases. Oh--and it is also fun when you have to take it to Kinkos to get copies made (and reduced down) when you need proof of graduation for more things than you will realize. Congrats! (to Travis..and you too Liz) :-)
Congratulations! Trav, you can help your dad fix my dad's mouth! They are having seriously issues with his teeth. I'm sure you'll hear all about it. Our families should all get together this summer!
Good luck with everything! At least the housing market in Oregon is a little more forgiving than out here. I'm sure you'll find something wonderful very soon!
wow can that diploma get any bigger?!?!? congrats to travis. i'm jealous you guys are finished and we are just starting!!
Congrats on graduating! Did you ever think this time would come when you first started out?? Crazy to think it's all done and you're on to your normal lives now. I know your Boston friends are going through a weird transition now too without you there like they're used to. Good luck with your transitions and keep the updates coming.
p.s. Travis' graduation hat cracks me up.
we miss you! wednesday nights are hard without you!
Congrats Travis--that diploma is huge!! I am so excited for ya'll to be done with school and hopefully these next two years that Andrew is in school will go by fast and we can be on to making the big bucks like ya'll!
congratulations guys! Good luck finding a place and settling into your new life. Wow- I'm a bit jealous, only one more year for us!
we miss you already, but am glad you all made it safe and sound cant wait to hear about all the fun stuff you are doing without us!
Congrats on graduation you guys! How exciting. I'm sure it was sad to leave the east coast, but there sure is something great about the west! Enjoy your time in Oregon!
Liz! I'm so excited for you guys! Sean and I just arrived in Ohio for the beginning of our four year adventure called Dental School. I'm sure hoping for some good friends to help me get through. Have fun in Oregon!!!
