halloween week.

let the festivities begin! i think it's clear by now that this is by far my favorite time of year and i feel like even though we've been in fall for a few weeks now, we definitely kick it off this week with halloween. to begin the week, on monday night i made some pumpkin chocolate/white chip cookies while we we carved our pumpkins. calvin definitely knows his pumpkins and talks about them all the time. i have some pumpkin lights hanging up in our place and he always reminds me that i need to plug in the pumpkins! so, when we went to pick out our pumpkins you better believe he was excited! it was pretty funny to watch him later that night, though, when we showed him what were planning to do with the pumpkins! we had fun cleaning and carving even though calvin wanted NOTHING to do with the gunk inside. i can't really blame him. the best part was when we got all finished and turned out all the lights. he could have watched them all night. and, a day hasn't gone by without him asking me to put fire in the pumpkins, ha!
this is right when travis showed calvin what was inside. his face is classic.a little jack-o-lantern watching (these 2 were taken in the dark so might be a little blurry)

and the final products: trav's spider/web, calvin's happy face, liz's skull

to finish off the week: yesterday i went to what was supposed to be a caramel apple day with the ladies which actually turned into a surprise baby shower for me! i had no idea and it was so nice of my friends to put together. so, not only did i get caramel apples, i also got to celebrate baby boy #2 with my friends. thanks again you guys! then we, of course, get to experience trick-or-treating for the first time with little kiddos on friday night followed by our ward's trunk-or-treat on saturday night. did i mention that we're also celebrating calvin's birthday on saturday because we'll be visiting grandma and grandpa on his actual birthday? yep, we've got a busy but fun next few days. i hope you are all enjoying it as much as we are! and check back for a possible baby bump picture. i know, i've been slacking this time around...

Cute pumpkins! I can't say I'm as in to Halloween but I'm hoping it will become fun for me again as Aiden gets older and can enjoy it to. Here's to trick-or-treating!

Cool pumpkins....and calvin is at a fun age....the next few years will be tons of fun, as he anticipates what will be happening, etc. How fun!
