yesterday morning i went visiting teaching. it had been a little while because of a busy summer, moving, and being sick and pregnant. it felt really nice to visit with some friends and to talk a little bit about the gospel and what makes each of us tick as women and mothers. we talked about strengthening spirituality in our homes. and how sometimes (a lot of the time) we all get so busy with *insert your own busy life schedule here* that we seem to run out of time for all of the things that are really important. i have felt so busy lately trying to get our home settled, keeping up with schedules, and normal day-to day living that i have forgotten to focus enough on the simple and spending my time more wisely. so, yesterday, after vt-ing i took the rest of the day off from all of the things i really thought i should be doing and spent some time for myself and some much needed time with my boys. it was beautiful and exactly what i needed. knowing that travis wouldn't be home for dinner last night, the boys took a good nap and then we headed to the park for the rest of the afternoon. we had fun playing together and then i even let them play in the sand AND the water at our park (which i usually HATE). and then i played with my camera. i shot all in manual which i've been wanting to do for a long time and finally gave myself the time to do it. here's what i got.
so now i am re-committed to taking more time to do the little things that always make the difference in a happy home and less time doing the things that do. not. matter. but don't worry. my toilets will still be clean:)

Amen. As humbling as they are, I love those return to basics moments!
good for you liz! you have been busy with lots on your plate. it'll get done, in time.
good reminder. I struggle with this all the time, glad your day was wonderful.(it would have been hard for me to let them play in the mud too) :) great photos too!!
How funny that you know Sean and Angell- they are in our ward and live right by us! Small world! And your pictures look amazing... they inspire me to keep figuring out my camera.
I have to echo Brittney... I noticed recently how amazing your pictures look! You must have gotten a new camera.
