ta-da! the birthday post.

i'm still a little bit in denial that i have a 4 year old! calvin had his birthday a week ago and has seemed bigger to me ever since. this year was especially exciting because he actually knew what it meant to have a birthday and understood that he got to have birthday cake and, of course, presents. the night before his birthday he had a really hard time going to bed. he kept coming out of his room saying, "i tried and i tried and i tried and i just can't fall asleep". i think he was pretty excited. the next morning he woke up begging to open his presents immediately. so we had to oblige.

this card is from his bff from boston, sophie. he told me, "mom, put this in a very special place so i can keep it forever".

birthday breakfast request: doughnuts and "yummy cereal"

it was a beautiful day and we got to spend a few hours at the zoo with dad AND nana! what could be better than that?

ok, maybe the zoo, dad and nana, and a big bag of cotton candy could make it better.

don't know why i'm so obsessed with these animals...

on saturday we had a dinosaur birthday party at our house complete with lunch for both carnivores and herbivores, dinosaur juice, dinosaur musical chairs, a pinata and dino-dig.

presents: complete with hugs to every single person who gave a gift. here's calvin's best buddy, "C".

one happy 4-year old boy! thanks to everyone for the gifts, phone calls and coming to the party. we had a great time celebrating with this sweet boy.
