well, we just sent kari home yesterday and i think we all are having major withdrawals! we had a great week with lots of fun, one-on-one time with her and kept pretty busy the entire time. i'm so glad calvin got some good nana time. they bonded right away and i think calvin still thinks he deserves an M&M as soon as he gets in the car! haha. here are some photos and stories of our week.
thursday: went to dinner at marina bay (a cute marina in quincy with lots of boats and "fine dining")
friday: new england aquarium, met trav for lunch at school, red sox game that night
world series ring
this definitely deserves a side story. i'll try and make it short, if that's possible. for those of you who haven't ever been to a game at fenway you have to understand that it is an experience in and of itself. i love it. because it's crazy. anyway, we were sitting in our seats watching the game (and everyone around us having sixths and sevenths on their beer) occasionally chatting with the people sitting around us. there were 2 couples sitting in front of us who were drinking their fair share. in the middle of the 7th inning, one of the girls was talking about her red/auburn hair and how much she hated it, etc etc. having overheard her conversation, kari leaned down and said how much she loved her hair and thought it was so beautiful. i added my opinion that i, too, thought it was really pretty. that was it. end of conversation.
about 5 minutes later, having not said a word since, this girl starts, well, going crazy! she started hitting her boyfriend next to her, then turned around at kari and me. she then threw the rest of her beer at us. by then her friends had gotten a hold of her so that she couldn't continue. we weren't sure if she was angry at us or her boyfriend or what had really just happened. i think we were all just shocked. about a minute later she tried to get free again, still holding a full cup of beer, yelling and screaming. (all directed toward "those 2 girls" behind her). after much struggling and profanities, her friends convinced her it was time to leave. on her way out we heard words such as "white trash" and "nice outfit". it's still a little blurry. we still have no idea what happened! (sorry, i told you it was long but it definitely added to the fenway experience!)
saturday: newport, rhode island, mansions. breakers tour. cliff walk. tennis hall of fame. surprise party waiting for me at home. more on that in later post.
sunday: church and dinner with rachel, travis' cousin.
monday: birthday! boston marathon. so, so inspiring. i never watch without crying. birthday shopping and dinner.
i told travis tonight that this trip made me trunky already! i really love it out here and have great friends, but it is so hard to be so far away from our families. we miss you already, kari!

Calvin withdrawls are killing me. Please give him a Nana squeeze. Travis, Liz, & Calvin I love you all so much. Thanks again for a fantastic and unforgettable trip. The one year count down begins...I am so happy.

What a fun week! I am so glad that Kari came for a visit. I can't believe how grown up Calvin is getting. So cute!:)
Nothing like a game at Fenway! The fans are more entertaining than the games!
